" i'm fine, just. . . give me a minute. " (for ann) (also hello ❤️)
↳ BLOOD BLOOD GALLONS OF THE STUFF PROMPTS
Ann crouches beside the other woman with a small frown tugging at the corner of her lips as she hears the other speak. Some people might be inclined to reach out and offer a reassuring touch on the shoulder or hand, anything to offer comfort and a sense of companionship. Ann does NONE of those things. She knows better than the majority of the population that while such actions could help some people, there was also a high probability that it could trigger fear or worsen the stress this woman was already under. It would be better to not risk worsening the situation any more than strictly necessary,
" Try to take a few deep breaths. In for four seconds and out for four seconds. " Ann instructions, her voice calm and composed despite the situation. Losing one's cool would do nothing good for anyone, but Ann cannot fault someone for needing a moment to breathe in light of the horror of a new situation. ( And truly, hadn't they all reacted the same when they'd first arrived? One minute they'd been living their ordinary lives. The next, almost everyone in the city had suddenly disappeared and left them in a desolate version of the world they knew).
Ann slings the backpack off of her shoulder and opens it up, rummaging around in it before she pulls out a sealed water bottle and offers it to the other. " Do you think you can drink? If you can, drink this. It should help. " Zipping up her bag, the other woman casts a glance around and then shifts her attention back towards her. " Take as long as you need. You're not injured, are you? "
#cartelheir#thank you for sending this in!#i hope this is alright <3#or feel free to ignore the little parenthesis section if you'd prefer modern world vs the borderlands!#she'd do the same regardless tbh#and also hello! ^-^#01. IN CHARACTER — ANN

hi, could you perhaps do an Oscar x Autistic reader where the reader is sensitive to loud noises and uses earplugs in public or where they has them but don't use them because they think they can get by without them but actually needs them. you can choose. Love the series!
Discreet
Oscar Piastri x Autistic Reader
Summary: Reader has been told all her life that she will scare people off with her headphones. Turns out they actually help a lot!
Warnings: mentions of toxic past and ableism
Notes: meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..... I feel called out by this ask tbh.
Masterlist
Should she be wearing her headphones? Yes. Is she? No. Absolutely not. Why, you may ask? Because she was raised that wearing headphones is going to scare away people. Make her more of an alien in the world than she already feels.
It was supposed to be a calm after party. She'd wanted to celebrate with Oscar for an amazing weekend. Oscar underestimated how rowdy the group could get. Lando had invited half the grid to his hotel room.
It's far too loud for her. A small enclosed space, a variety of different smells mix together, the lights are flashing from the TV. It's all too much for her. It's so loud she can't think properly.
She's currently hiding in the corner of the room with the least number of people. She's doing her best to calm herself down, but the longer she stays here, the harder it gets.
A presence is made known to her by the wall vibrating from weight being slumped against it. "Did you bring your headphones?" Oscar asks from beside her.
She wants to say yes. Tell him she brought them like she was supposed to. But she hadn't because this is a social event, and she doesn't want to scare anybody away.
Oscar takes her lack of words and gestures as a no. "Well, I brought ear plugs just in case. We can sit here until you feel able to walk again, and then I'll come up with a lame ass excuse to get out of here. Sound like a plan?"
This time, she does nod her head. She takes the ear plugs from Oscar and fits them into her ears. It's not the greatest at stopping the noise, but it's something for now.
She takes a few deep breaths and hides her face in her boyfriends shoulder. Effectivley keeping the lights away for a minute.
She taps his hand to signal she's ready (a secret code they'd created for non-verbal moments like this). Oscar helps her up, and then they clamber over to Lando. Her feet are tripping over everything as they do so.
"Thanks for inviting us, Lan. We're gonna go get some sleep now."
It's not even an excuse. It's probably just the honest truth. Regardless, Lando smiles at them and thanks them for coming.
Outside the room, she feels like her lungs are less restricted. Her senses claw at the relief as they walk back to Oscar's room. Her body feels relieved as she puts on her comfy clothes and throws herself under the covers.
"You know you can wear your headphones, right love? It's nothing to ever be ashamed of." Oscar crawls into the bed next to her. She sidles up to him, laying her head on his chest.
"I know. I just - don't want people to be scared of me." She mumbles the last part, but Oscar still hears it.
"Your real friends will be the ones who don't care if you wear headphones or not. They help you and you like them. That's all that matters."
She is able to relax on the thought that Oscar will always want the best for her. He doesn't care that she stims or follows the same patterns. And he'll never mind if she wears headphones. He thinks they make her look more badass anyway.

oh and to add to a thought in an earlier post about glimmah n catra being on prime's ship (cause tbh, irl i have no one to discuss these thoughts w lol) i was kinda wondering why catra's sacrifice seems to often be disregarded? lol like glimmer was shocked and scared to be zapped away n leave catra to a fate w prime that literally none of these characters can imagine better than her. and glimmer doesn't even know about the crazy green liquid lightning baptism lmao like - i've seen ppl deny catra any cred for her sacrifice saving glimmer and just how tho?
they say stuff like it was a cop out self-sacrifice, she didn't expect to suffer and thought she'd go out in a blaze of glory that would leave adora scarred for life. to them i say - i think we maybe weren't watching the same show?
cause catra was warned - she was verbatim told by prime what the repercussions would be if she didn't "do what i ask" ok. girl knew what was coming for her and tbh that only makes the fact she still did it that much more heart-wrenching.
she prob assumed to be tortured and killed after prime had his fill of fun w that. the chip? yeah no one saw that coming cause it was never even mentioned as something prime was capable of. but regardless, catra suffered for adora and did it willingly. i'm a nice boi ok but i have no patience left for people who straight up despise catra. cause if you hate her, you prob would hate me too. n i don't hate you at all, but maybe let's just skip to avoiding each other forever ok dude lol

Worm characters rated on how funny I think it'd be if they were trans:
Taylor: 2/5. Neither particularly funny nor unfunny. Just sort of neutral. She fits the bill for a stereotypical east coast white transfem with a stick figure build, but there's not much of a punchline.
Brian: 0/5. Almost any way you slice it this is kinda sad. Either "transfemme continually overcompensates by trying to be as masculine as possible in a way that never really can or will satisfy her" or "transmasc overcompensates into masculinity to maximize stealth even if it's harmful to him."
Lisa: 3/5. This is also fairly neutral in terms of funniness. But the idea of her being stealth is not entirely implausible to me. 4/5 if you subscribe to the "blonde hair is actually a wig" theory tbh.
Alec: 2/5. Too obvious, too easy. That said, scumbag transvestite is pretty funny as a punchline.
Rachel: 4/5 in basically any way you interpret this. But critically, Rachel does not know what a trans person is. If you called her transgender person she'd think you were trying to insult her until you carefully explained what those things meant and then she'd be like, "Well, I guess I am. But I don't know why you'd need a word for that. I just wear what I want." She's accidentally achieved gender nirvana.
Aisha: 2/5. Again, I think this is too obvious! She already has scumbag transvestite vibes.
Colin: 2/5 normally, but 4/5 if the transition happens during the Armsmaster / Defiant career change. "What do you mean? Obviously Defiant is a totally different person from Armsmaster, she's a woman and Armsmaster was a man!"
Dragon: 4/5. Has the same approximate funny value as SHODAN, GLADOS, or AM being trans, but slightly knocked down by her not being particularly evil. That said if Colin is also trans in this scenario, then we could imagine some kind of weird double force-femme scenario where Colin is reprogramming her to be more free in her gender while she rebuilds Colin's body into something more fitting and suddnely I think I hauve COVID.
Dennis: 5/5. If Dennis was transfem she would make indefinite puns about her chosen hero name. She would lean into it constantly I think. Very funny to think about.
Chris: 3/5. ADHD transgender failgirls / failboys will always rank well with me.
Dean: 4/5. Closeted the whole time he's with Victoria is a pretty funny scenario here. Gradually bringing up transgender people and then watching her aura very closely.
Missy: 1/5 Again, we're looking more at a "this is deeply depressing" scenario than "this is funny." "Why would I medically transition? Odds are pretty good that I'm not making it past puberty anyways."
Sophia: 0/5. Just not much here to go on tbh! Not funny!
Sveta: 4/5. Vial gives her the body she always wanted -> she gets confused and thinks she's supposed to be a man, so she transitions again -> she realizes that she's a woman again and de / retransitions. Just a comedy of gender errors.
Amy: 1/5. Eh is all I have for this.
Victoria: 2/5. Any implication in this descends more into a territory I would call creeping dread regardless of how funny it is.
Bakuda: 4/5. Pretty solid Unabomber-style "could transitioning have made her worse?" punchline.
Manton: 3/5. Insane cannibalistic transfem projecting her ideal, ripped, indefinitely strong, statuesque body into physical reality to hunt down her prey and I think I hauve COVID again. 4/5 if the Siberian also hangs schlong tbh. Just makes the whole image more comedic.
Riley: 5/5. "I transitioned at ten, but then later removed my own ovaries that I grew for myself for unrelated reasons."

Do you know what dæmons are (from his dark materials) and if yes, can i see what you think Abi, dabi, and any of the others you wanna possibly share would be? (If no, 👉👈 can i tell you about it cause i would love to see more Dæmon aus for ocs tbh)
STOHSOUH ACTUALLY YES!!! I have looked into this and done some (very mild) research, and I have thought about what Abiteth's daemon would be! I initially had it as an Abiteth/Dante AU because I wanted to have some different AUs between my Abiteth x Dabi (and/or Touya) AUs, and TyTeth AUs, but!! I technically have an idea for daemons for all 4 😊😊
Unfortunately I don't have the strength to draw them right now (saving up my art strength for art fight!), but I can at least describe what I have in mind for their daemons (and also keeping in mind that the daemon is normally the opposite sex of the person which I love to see because that is actually something I thrive on LMAO).
Dabi would have a snake as his daemon, reflecting both his cunning, sly, and slippery nature, but also how his story is revolves around transformation and change. She would start as a snake with white or pale scales, then after the fire she and Dabi would suffer from a forced separation?? Then reconnect, so Dabi can be away from his daemon for a significant amount of time. After this and after Dabi dyes his hair, she chooses to manifest as a large black cobra, and once he reconnects with his family (if he does and if there is healing there and NOT what we got in the fucking canon) then she would settle as a white snake. Not entirely sure on breed in this case!
Touya would have a wolf as his daemon - wolf pup to full-grown wolf. I don't have much to say in regards to that story wise, just that I know he would have a wolf. His daemon being a wolf reflects his loyalty, love for his family, and honestly leadership. Obviously this is in an AU where he doesn't go through the specific trauma that led to him becoming Dabi.
If this was a twin AU, then both Dabi and Touya would have wolves. Touya would have a red wolf, and Dabi would have a white wolf. Similar to if it was JUST a Dabi AU, his wolf would go through the same thing that Dabi and his snake go through (also realistically, until both of his daemons settle in either depiction, they would shift between wolf and snake, just that in the case of twin!Dabi, his daemon settles as a white wolf). The twins both having wolves makes so much sense to me because at the end of the day, they both love their family (and each other) and work well together no matter how many arguments they have, so the wolf speaks to both Touya and Dabi's personalities. Both Touya and Dabi's daemons would settle.
Abiteth's daemon regardless of AU would never settle, but choose to be in a specific primary form depending on which AU it is. Touya's Abi would have a male elk as her primary Daemon, which reflects Abiteth's strength and good heart. Dabi's Abi's daemon would primarily show himself as a tarantula, which reflects her resilience, patience, and general creativity. Twin!Touya/Dabi's Abi's daemone would show himself primarily as a tarantula too, I think. Dante's Abi's daemon would show himself primarily as a frog/toad, reflecting her adaptability and how grounded she can be - but also how slippery she is. In the case of Dante's Abi, her daemon would also primarily appear as a raven (which is true for all of them but yeah, IDK if I'm making sense LMAO). Abiteth would be classed as a witch if I was going with a proper His Dark Materials AU.
Dante would also class as a witch, and his daemon would show herself as a few different kinds of birds of prey, interestingly enough. She'd jump between a harpy eagle, bearded vulture, and macaw. The eagle in particular is a good reflection of Dante because of his intimidating appearance and prowess. I don't know if his daemon would ever settle, but since Abiteth's won't settle, I don't think his would either.
SO AS A RECAP OF EVERYTHING IN MORE SIMPLE TERMS:
Dabi's daemon - snake Abiteth's daemon - tarantula
Touya's daemon - red wolf Abiteth's daemon - elk
Twin Dabi's daemon - white wolf Twin Touya's daemon - red wolf Abiteth's daemon - tarantula
Dante's daemon - harpy eagle Abiteth's daemon - frog/toad (sometimes raven)
IDK WHAT I'M DOING BUT I'M HAVING FUN SO HERE YOU GO!!!
#other options for Abiteth's daemon definitely included a bunch of monarch butterflies#Ask Air#Dabiteth AUs#I think if i had more brain power I could go a bit futher#BUT THIS IS WHAT I HAVE FOR NOW I HOPE YOU LIKE IT#moonraisedsunchild#THANKS FOR ASKING BTW!!!

You should talk about your ocs here more often :3. I feel like a lot of people who like your KnY content would like HTBM, so... Which Here There Be Monsters characters do you think would fit the best as a demon in a Kimetsu au?
Thank you!!! >w< I really should try to talk about them more, and I very much appreciate the prompting to do so~ For the sake of keeping this post from getting too carried away, I'll only be taking non-human characters into account; feel free to ask about the Mages separately, if you'd like.
(For context/Oc info, check @phantasmagoriaoriginals)
. . .
Skorpion — Her personality, to begin with, consists of picking fights with as many people as possible and eating things she shouldn't. She'd do great as a demon... though her reckless, persistent harassment of every Hashira she can find might not lead to a very long lifespan as one. Not that she'd care too much about dying...
Suu — Tbh, he wouldn't be all that different as a demon. Same merman-like appearance, same zero braincells, same life strategy of hiding out in the deepest river he can stake his claim on and devouring anyone unfortunate enough to go in the water... He'd be happier as a demon (downsides included) than a human, by far.
Jericoh — Douma vibes, but more "scam artist/crime boss" than "cult leader". Takes way too much pleasure in tormenting poor, helpless, stupid humans who can't fight back. Probably collects Nichirin swords as trophies/to fulfill his sparkly-valuable-objects fetish. Either evades detection for centuries, or gets his ass in trouble REAL quick.
Mithri — Smug snake bastard is now a picky-eater demon who's actively offended when humans aren't honored to be devoured by them. Vain to an extent that makes Gyokko look modest, they'd likely end up picking constant fights with Slayers out of sheer spite. They'd have poison-based abilities, with dreadfully versatile tactics.
Cinnabar — They'd be one of those demons that looks far too much like a person/child (and takes advantage of that). Definitely sets mass wildfires/burns down entire towns just to munch on the charred corpses afterward. Doesn't have much interest in direct combat, but finds it hilarious to watch hopeful, determined Slayers burn alive after not landing a single hit on them. Uncontrollable in a dangerous way; Muzan would probably get sick of them very quickly.
Kegare + Kiyomi — These two have to stay together regardless of the Au (do not separate, as the joke goes), so I can picture a sort of Daki and Gyuutarou-ish situation for them. Kiyomi would likely be the stronger one of the two in this setting (mostly due to how many humans they'd eat), but Kegare is the one going out of his way to cause as many problems as possible (especially for the Slayer corps).

the usual disclaimer that this applies to the uh 7 or so people she loves dearly and enjoys having close, but helaena loves to sleep with someone else near. which i mean in a very innocent sense - she likes having someone she loves that close, to hold them close or be held, to be soothed by peaceful breathing and steady heartbeats.
whenever one of the twins (or both) or maelor (or all 3 of them ngl) wanted to sleep with her, she'd make room for them and hold them close and take comfort in their presence and warmth as much as she gives them comfort with affection and safety.
as a child, i think she'd often sleep in the same bed as one of her brothers (aemond, more often than not, probably. chiefly because they're closer in age and also he's her favorite). while that was acceptable because they were little, at least.
more rarely she'd go to her mom's bed. not because she didn't feel comforted and comfortable there but because she didn't want to disturb her. or to be left alone when father sent someone to fetch her mom in the middle of the night
when she was old enough that wouldn't be allowed but not old enough to be married, the idea of having one of her ladies (innocently) share her bed may have been suggested so she'd still have a companion but helaena wouldn't accept it because she doesn't want other people touching her much less near her when she's sleeping thanks
once she's married it's. not like she and aegon sleep together always. when they do it's complicated? (what isn't with them tbh) but i like to think once in a while they find a way to match the pieces right and she takes comfort in his warmth and holds him close and plays with his hair until they both sleep (if anything, i feel this might be easier than any conversation they try to have rip)
she might still go to aemond's bed after it's no longer allowed, before and after her marriage. innocently. (or not so innocently, from a certain point forward. but that depends on plotting 🫡) regardless, i see it happening if she needs comfort for whatever reason as much as if she thinks he needs comfort for whatever reason.
if she didn't hate herself as much as she does and didn't think herself so unworthy of her children post b&c she'd have kept maelor and jaehaera close and had them sleep in her bed after jaehaerys died. it would have been comforting, and maybe the babies would've felt a little better too. alas, she doesn't want them to suffer her presence after what she thinks she did
8 year old helaena curled up with 3 year old daeron (after she forgave him for not being the sister she wanted)
probably took naps curled up close to dreamfyre (sad dreamfyre is too big to sleep in her bed 😔)
but yeah in similar scenarios she enjoys company and sleeps better with someone else there. 100% will fiddle with clothes or play with her or something of the sort while entwined with someone and falling asleep
#unassorted barely coherent sleep companions hc#* out of character: { dreamfyre stan }#* character study: { innocence died screaming }#targcest cw#child death cw#ask to tag

It was also so ooc for Robin to want to be friends so badly with Nancy in s4. Plus her encouraging Stancy to get back together? Whoever this person was, it was not my Robin. Like s3 Robin would be wtf are you doing girl. Because let's be real she hated Steve for years because her crush only had eyes for him. How would she not have a grudge for the girl who hurt her person, her bff??? It doesn't matter if Steve never bitched about Nancy or that he would only say positive stuff about her, Robin still sees that her bff is hurting. And with the cheating rumors going around, Robin is smart and can connect the dots.
R/nance doesn't even make much sense as a friendship. I absolutely loved your take on one sided R/nance when Nancy was questioning why Robin didn't really want to hang out with her or preferred the group. And then when Robin told her it's because of Steve and how Nancy never really reflected her wrong doings because it's been so long, that was so good. Because again realistically Robin wouldn't want to hang out with people if it hurts her bestie. Like you said they share everything, Robin would have to limit herself, she couldn't talk as openly about her relationship with Nancy to Steve because it's awkward and over time I think she would conclude that's simply not worth it. Her relationship with Steve is more important to her.
In s4 Nancy should have been the one to make it up to Robin, not Robin begging for Nancy's attention. It would allow Nancy to finally get some character growth and her reflecting on past behavior would also introduce Stancy in a more natural way other than "oh hey Steve, Jonathan is not here, btw you are hot". She basically gets everything handed to her without any work (when it comes to her personal life, I'm not saying she doesn't work hard when it comes to other stuff). Like Robin immediately wants to be besties and Steve still worships the ground she works on, there are never consequences for her hurtful actions and thus no growth as an individual. Like Nancy as a character is still the same as she was in s2, she never reflects on her behavior because the narrative lets her off the hook so she doesn't really have to apologize for anything . It would have been so interesting if Robin was cold to her in the beginning as she was with Steve, maybe even a bit colder.
I think that just because Robin is not good at reading people in the moment, she still is able to make those connections later. Plus, after the first few weeks after Starcourt growing pains between stobin, Steve is probably the one person she knows she can read with accuracy (both because she now knows him, and because he allows himself to be vulnerable in front of her). So what with Steve's guilt/martyr complex and all the rumours that must have followed at school the week after halloween, regardless of Steve brushing them off and probably actively denying that Nancy cheated (literally he doesn't know she did. no one who knows would tell him, and he blames himself openly for the end of their relationship), she'd probably piece together that Nancy did a number on his heart. So I would have liked to see Robin giving Nancy more of a side-eye in S4, especially if her and Steve were getting a bit flirty. Tbh I know I've mentioned it before, but the only reasonable explanation for Steve making not just eyes but flirting with Nancy, is that somewhere along the line, Steve and Robin got it in their heads that Jon and Nancy had broken up (hence Nancy not going to cali with mike). Because we know so little about Steve's parents, but we do know his dad cheats and Steve knows about it and is extremely sensitive to infidelity. I could maybe see him tell Nancy he still had feelings for her before fighting vecna, to get it off his chest before potentially dying, even if he knew she was still with Jon, but not the other stuff. Literally would not make sense for one of the most defining and pivotal traits he's had since s1, or for robin to encourage it.
ooo. yeah I agree. I guess the one-sided rnce post really was attempting to explore a situation that makes Nancy realize that her actions have impacts on people she potentially cares about that cannot be unaddressed. There's a through-line in the show of Nancy's actions, regardless of what they are, as being completely justified and right. So when her and Jon fight in s3, she never has to actually address her part and classism in it. (they were both wrong!! Both of them should have apologized!) In s2, when Steve does reasonable not-wanting-to-get-disappeared things, the narrative treats him like he's a bad boyfriend for being unsupportive. When Nancy cheats on him, TPTB retcon it by saying they broke up at the party or in the alley, removing any guilt for Nancy's actions. For her interpersonal relationships, we don't see Nancy putting much work or effort into them. Hell, we see steve apologize immediately for threatening Dustin's teeth when he was getting frustrated and said he went too far. And Lucas apologizes to Will in s3 too. So the show can show us friends putting in effort to not leave each other hurt. It would be neat to see Nancy actively trying in her relationships. Apologizing or opening up a conversation or something. idk.
I think there was some potential for an interesting friendship between Robin and Nancy. But yes Robin deserved to be a bit wary of Nancy! I can see Robin trying to be her friend a little bit after starcourt, attempting to put Barb leaving her for Nancy behind her, but Nancy not really being open to it so it sort of soured Robin to her. And then in s4 when the Upside Down is back Nancy trying to be Robin's friend and robin, having been burned by Nancy before, is now suspicious of why she suddenly wants to be friends now. That would have been such a fun dynamic to have! Like Nancy being kind of jealous of steve and robin's friendship both for her wanting to have a friends, and possibly, if they were still going with it for whatever reason, for her romantic interest in steve. And Robin being protective of both her own and Steve's hearts from Nancy! neat!
Post s4... yeah. I don't see Nancy actively wanting to be friends with the other people who fight the Upside Down. like, sure maybe she'll exchange numbers and split a bottle of wine with the older teens, but she wouldn't be cuddly call-after-nightmare friends with them. Not just because of personalities, but because I think she'd want to put everything to do with Hawkins behind her and look to her future.
We see her only stay in contact with the person she is dating, and not really anyone else. Like. in s3 we see Steve have connections with the Party and after that with Robin, but only see Nancy with her boyfriend. I think it's really important for Nancy to have an arc that isn't about romance, or about her guilt about Barb. or at least, not her unresolved and continuing guilt about barb. It could be about her moving forward and having close friendships again despite that guilt. But at this point, I don't think could happen, as it would require more groundwork than the show can afford to give to it this late in the series. I just want her to end the series single, ready for uni and moving on from what happened. I want her to be free of Hawkins, in a way she cannot be if she's dating anyone involved with the Upside Down, especially when any of her three popular ships are all hung up on the town or the people in it in a way she doesn't seem to be.

ok im going to do my straw hats sexualities and gender post now so.
luffy - aroace! he doesnt experience any romantic or sexual attraction, but he does make/laugh at sex jokes like a 12 year old boy would. he also doesnt really understand gender so he identifies as a man cuz thats what every one refers to him as but if you used any other pronouns with him he wouldnt correct you. when ivankov was talking about destroying gender norms he thought gender norms was like a really strong pirate tbh. or when bon clay said he was gay and bigender he thought that was like an ethnicity or some shit. if you came out to him he'd be like "oh really? im from dawn island wheres lesbian?"
zoro - unlabled! he has attraction to all genders but hes too lazy to figure out an exact gender its an "i might be bisexual but im too busy sword training to care" kind of thing, he doesnt really care for gender very much, hes amab and identifies as a man but if you used they/them on him he'd be fine. do NOT use she/her though he doesnt like that. hes also demisexual tho! (doesnt experience romantic or sexual attraction with out forming a strong emotional bond)
nami - a lesbian among lesbians. a women lover above all things. she doesnt try to hide it either. she doesnt really care for gender and is very happy with her identity as a women, but she also uses they/them sometimes when shes feeling silly
usopp - gay man. gay as hell. so fucking gay. him and nami are wlw mlm HOSTILITY. he uses all pronouns though, he couldnt really care less honestly
sanji - BISEXUAL. he had a talk w ivankov post time skip and kind of had internalized homophobia/transphobia and was like "all men get attracted to other men but that doesnt make you gay bro." and ivankov had to sit him down and bring the news to him like telling a child santa isnt real. he uses all pronouns.
chopper - likes other reindeer no matter the gender. ask him for his pronouns tho and he'd be like "oh im cis! if you are trans i can get you some testosterone or estrogen shots though!" good doctor
robin - bisexual, couldn't care less about the gender of her partner, she'd love them regardless. shes a trans women! chopper is always delicate with her estrogen shots and gives her fun bandaids in silly shapes and ALWAYS at the same time because one time she mentioned how before she joined the strawhats she would have to go without estrogen for long periods of time and when she did get to use it, it was rushed and she put it in at weird angles
franky - another trans bisexual, round of applause everyone! trans male, when he got hit by that train and started making himself a robot it was his OPPORTUNITY!!!!! his robot body automatically gives him t shots whenever hes due so he doesnt need choppers help until he needs to refill it.
brook - hes bisexual with a fem lean, no care for gender. hes one of those elder gay guys whos like "omg im so happy you get to do this now, we didnt have that when i was young"
jinbe - cishet but SUPER aggresive ally. one of those gay dads that wear rainbow socks around all the time and whenever he sees like pride merch he points to whichever crew member is next to him and is like "do we get this". the answer is always no. hes like a proud dad tbh. if someone said something homophobic around him he'd sit them down and educate them. alternatively if luffy hears someone say something about fishmen he'd just beat them up

8, 9, 22 and 24 for Grimm, Indigo and Astralis, if you would, please!
8. What is your oc's preferred method for covering their sneezes, and why do they prefer this method?
Grimm is either one hand (usually fisted) or crook-of-the-elbow. He'll sometimes also do the "lean away," if it's just allergies. No idea why he does any of it. That's just what he does. He's probably never thought about it.
Indigo will always use a handkerchief, if he can. If it's a situation where he can't for whatever reason, it's steepled hands (which he HATES). He does this because it's proper etiquette.
Astralis is basically the same as Indigo (like father, like son lol), but if he knows his wife is watching, he may not cover at all because he's just a fucking bastard.
9. How does your oc deal with a sneezing fit that isn't stopping, and what's likely to cause that for them? what would help? The only thing that would cause a fit like for Grimm would be extreme exposure to lilies or dust. If he gets away from it, he'll usually stop pretty soon afterwards. He sometimes has long "fits" where it's 2-3 every 15 minutes or so, but even then, it usually quits on its own and he just kind of deals with it until it does.
Indigo hasn't really been in that situation. He's got healing abilities, so he can stop himself, if he needs to. Oleander is likely the only thing to send him over the edge like that. His other allergies are pretty manageable for him.
Astralis has such intense control over every aspect of himself, he could simply just . . . stop. IDK, I DON'T MAKE THE RULES lol. He does have an allergy to roses, but it's not as intense as Indigo or Grimm's triggers. I'm not sure what could throw that bastard into that kind of loss of control, tbh. He wouldn't allow it.
22. How would your oc respond to discovering a new allergy?
Grimm would just deal with it. That's how he gets through most things. Acknowledge it, deal with it, move on. Next.
Indigo would be intensely annoyed because he already has plenty of things that set him off as it is. If it were a plant, he'd probably freeze-burn it lol.
Astralis would destroy whatever caused it and no one would ever speak of it again lol.
24. Can your oc tell whether a cold or allergies is making them sneeze based only on how it feels, or is it a mystery to them until they gather more evidence?
All three of them can always tell what's causing it. Now, Indigo is more likely to deny a cold rather than wonder what's causing his issues. It's really got to beat his ass for him to concede to it. Grimm doesn't give a fuck about having a cold. If he has one, he just moves on. He knows immediately when he's sick. He's probably better at this than Indigo or Astralis. Astralis will know if it's a cold because if there are no roses around, very little else makes him snz. He will acknowledge a cold to himself, but not to anyone else. Well, except for Aurora. But she'd know regardless.

For the ask game! Pawn #2, arisen & pawn #7. World and story #3
Thank you Amier! :D
(Dragon’s Dogma 2 Ask Game)
Pawn #2 - Do they act any differently around other Arisen across the Rift?
Emrys is actually a bit more laid-back and genuine around other Arisen than he is Olivia - almost solely because Olivia exists as "his Arisen" that he is bound to, so she gets most of his 'ire'. But, by 'genuine' this sometimes means more of his "Straightforward" remarks come leaking out, but it's usually all in good fun. Amusingly between them, (on the surface at least), it looks like Emrys lets a thin wall down, and Rann puts a thin wall up. Rann is just a little more stiff and formal, but his overall demeanor doesn't really change a whole lot. He's keen on being helpful wheresoever he can, but would prefer to hang back a little and let others take the lead so he can support (which isn't entirely different except that Reverie sometimes prefers to follow his directions). It's kind of a bit of a load-off, not being the "main pawn" 😅 so he's happy to defer to the judgement of the Arisen's pawn. So while there's that slight sense of distance initially, with enough time spent it'd gradually relax as he finds his footing with each individual Arisen, so-to-speak.
Arisen & Pawn #7 - What are their least favorite enemies to fight?
A common enough answer, Reverie hates rattlers. Her preferred tactic if possible is picking them up and chucking them in the brine/lava/whatever. She also HATES ogres; early amnesia brainfog Reverie got some trauma from them that she does gradually overcome with the mentality of: I'mgoingtokillitI'mgoingtokillitI'mgoingtokill it before it can drool all over me. Rann similarly is not fond of ogres for pretty much the same reason of how badly Reverie responded to them. 😂But I do think it's funny that his inclination complains about griffins, so I like to think he's been a bit traumatized about them ever since that time Reverie got flown halfway across the map - ...and then when it happened again... and again........ Olivia hates choppers. They are so annoying and she always forgets to look for them and they always catch her off-guard. And she'd much rather admit to that than confess how piss-her-pants scared she is of literally everything undead. Ghosts, skeletons, zombies, you name it, she's trying not to cry or hide behind Em. Fortunately her "fight" instinct is significantly higher than "flight" but she kind of just starts blindly flailing around a bit..... Obviously Emrys's greatest enemy are crates. I mean drakes. Drakes. The potential for having his control taken away from him is uh, it's pretty uncomfortable.
World & Story #3 - Regardless of whether you adhere to the in-game counter or not, how long do you think their journey took? Did they book it with a sense of urgency, or did things get drawn out - and why?
Okay, short answers because one day I'm gonna probably do "full outlines" for each of their journeys. Reverie's probably takes about a year, maybe encroaching closer to two years. I like to think the sense of urgency can be drawn out, so I'm shoving in shopping episodes and more personalized quests for more NPCs, a million little delicate moments between her and Rann. (Also playing with the idea that ferrystones are more of a 'for the gamer' thing and even rarer and more difficult to obtain in the real canon, so travel time elongates and once you get to Battahl you don't just skip over to the other side of the map for lunch all the time.) I might get a clearer/more refined idea about their journey though when they get into NG+. Similarly, Olivia's journey tbh probably takes at least three years, but I haven't pinpointed the actual timeframe either. I just know everything gets drawn out. From her family being involved and helping find a way to cure her amnesia, to spending a few months in the Nameless Village training as a thief, to Vernworth getting wiped out by Em's Dragonsplague and them having to go on a quest to find the Eternal Wakestone, everything gets really stretched and tugged around. Three years might even be lowballing it a little, but she's not looking to challenge Savan's supposed record 😂
#character prompts.#crow's lorebook.#lorebook: olivia & emrys#lorebook: reverie & rann#working on an outline for olivia's journey is on my agenda today actually we'll see if i can get to it 😤

Jellydots Headcanons
we’re starting things off with jellydots because I don’t think I’ve made a proper post about them before? Which is a crime against humanity tbh so have a list of some headcanons about the cat wives.
🌻Before Jenny has to head off to her humans, she likes to leave Jellylorum a note around their den. Normally on a cushion or relatively easy to spot place. The notes are usually short and to the point, but always very sweet: "I may not see you everyday, but I love you everyday."
Jellylorum has kept every single note she's received from Jenny; she keeps them in an old needle box and on occasion, she'll re-read them. Particularly when Jenny's away for longer or sometimes with Jenny by her side. Her favorite one is the one Jenny made for her after a sleepover when they were kits. She drew a funny picture that was supposed to be the both of them but ended up looking scribblier than she liked.
🌻 Jelly *loves* spoiling Jenny whenever she can; she's a naturally crafty cat and tends to make little trinkets and decorations for Jenny when she finds the time to. They're usually knitted, but other times she likes to incorporate buttons and beads to make gifts. They usually ranged from collars made of beads to small knitted costumes for her very best mice.
🌻 Jenny finds comfort in resting her head on Jelly’s lap; it was a habit formed during their younger years. In those days, she would drift off effortlessly (typically on Jellylorum's back), and old habits would die hard. Jenny remains a deep and swift sleeper, a trait Jelly has grown accustomed to and doesn't mind one bit.
🌻 Jelly can’t hold a grudge for her life, so Jenny does for her, but only Grizabella gets to experience that. They were both hurt by her leaving, but it affected them very differently. Jenny grew resentful, and Jellylorum became more disappointed over time. It was a small point of tension between them, a topic they'd carefully avoided for the longest time. When they would address it, it was never to argue but more to mourn a longtime friend. They promised to never put each other through the same turmoil; after all, you only have so few lifelong friends. Jenny doesn't think Jelly would do anything of the sort and leave, but Jelly does worry sometimes that Jenny's visits to the junkyard will become more occasional with time.
🌻They've done the same Halloween costume for a couple of years now, not because they're uncreative but because the holiday genuinely slips their minds until it's a few days away. But they like to go as each other; Jelly puts on the Gumbie coat and Jenny wears the Griddlebone costume, and they have a laugh about it.
🌻Jenny and Jelly do like taking strolls outside the junkyard; normally, they'd go to the park if they wanted a quieter space to relax and have a chat. Other times, they'll sit in the town's library; it's not very busy, and they go relatively unnoticed by the head librarian, or else she'd pet them and let them be, which was always a treat for the both of them.
🌻 When they were young, they would constantly talk about having a den together, where it would be (though Jelly would always insist she'd want to be close to her father's den), how they'd decorate it, and just how happy they'd be if they could have sleepovers all the time. Ironically enough, the possibility of them having mates they'd move in with never came up in these discussions. They'd always intend to live together regardless, which they didn't notice as a clear sign until they were already mates.
🌻 Jelly does admire how Jenny communicates with other species; it fascinates her deeply how far she's come with that. She remembers when they were so small, and Jenny would insist she could understand the mice. Jelly gave her the benefit of the doubt, while most of the others would dismiss it immediately. But one thing about Jenny's was that she was determined, and Jellylorum was shocked but pleasantly surprised when Jenny seemed to have properly trained the pesky mice in her humans' kitchen. Jenny would sometimes get the mice to deliver things to Jellylorum for her. <3
🌻 They can’t keep secrets from each other to save their lives; everything Jenny knows, Jelly knows, and vice versa. Jelly tries whenever the kittens or adults open up to her, but when the subject is particularly heavy, Jellylorum really can't help herself. She will wait it out; however, she's in no rush to spill.
🌻 Jelly is very ticklish, particularly around her chin and neck (like most domestic cats), but only Jenny knows about that. She does like to lightly brush against those areas with her tail just so she can hear Jellylorum chuckle. She'd normally shake her head right after, followed by an "Oh you" comment.
🌻 Jennyanydots takes great joy in complimenting Jellylorum, especially observing her reactions. She frequently expresses how pretty and beautiful Jellylorum is, delighting in the way Jellylorum smiles and raises her eyebrows in response. Occasionally, when Jellylorum appears genuinely surprised, she'll inquire further about the compliment, seeking reassurance, to which Jennyanydots consistently reaffirms Jellylorum's beauty without hesitation.

ok so like i can't figure out why mizu was so disturbed by kinuyo's death... even tho it should be so obvious to me i just can't put it into words ?? it was so sad. i thought at first maybe it's bc she's acting as the protector she wish she'd had as a woman (aside from swordfather) but idk if that makes sense in my head. like. idk. it was just v quick and gentle but rly damn sad tbh and she was shaken from that point
(im going to use they/them pronouns for mizu not for any hc reason, its just for legibility. i just woke up so my train of thought is. there. itll be easier to read if there aren't 5 different she's that im referring to)
i think that what you're talking about is apart of it definitely, because i think that mizu associates womanhood with safety. it's something that they themself are not allowed to have because danger follows them regardless of where they go. this is also why i think mizu lets akemi be taken by her father's men, specifically emphasizing that being a wife to the emperor is a good life. which is a weird choice, but one that makes sense for mizu because they would be thinking about their own experience as a wife. mizu's happiest days were when she was married to mikio (less bc of the marriage and more bc they weren't constantly thinking about revenge but mizu hasn't made that connection). to mizu, being a woman is a life that they aren't allowed to have, as repeated throughout their childhood, because hunters will always come. their identities can't coexist, they can't be a woman and mixed race.
when mizu kills mikio, it's not because they think he sold them out to the hunters or because he killed their mom. mizu kills him because he stands in the way of their revenge. this is their justification for everyone they kill. the moment anyone gets in the way, everything that mizu unleashes on them is justified. when mikio and mizu's mother are fighting behind them, mizu realizes that they have let themself be distracted from their quest. revenge will always come looking for them, and the hunters were their wake up call. so after this, mizu is completely focused on their mission, represented by mikio literally being out of focus on screen. when he dies, he is just another blameless person standing in the way of mizu's revenge.
there are two things that i think make kinuyo's death worse for mizu. the first is that kinuyo had struggled and been abused all throughout her childhood, and when she had finally found safety, it was ripped away. the circumstances are different but im sure this hits home for mizu. kinuyo's story, albeit for different reasons, mirrors mizu's own tragedy. mizu sees themself in kinuyo, which is obviously hard to reconcile. the second reason is that kinuyo is a side quest. she's not another character standing in mizu's way, nameless and blameless. mizu can't justify killing kinuyo the same way they do everyone else.
#not art#ask#mizu#blue eye samurai#im not going to say much else about bes at this time#because i dont want to draw more attention to it#the creators are zionists that support the genocide in palestine#that being said#i encourage people who are interested to pirate it#because i think the show starts a lot of very interesting conversations

GOT A MOTIVE FOR CITRINE AND IT’S A BAD ONE bad like. boy you'd really kill your fiancé(e) over this, huh
so blush had a lovely ornate key they wore on a chain that they got from their parents. family heirloom, no idea what the key went to, it just had sentimental value. they never took it off, wore it everywhere. anyway it was an infiltrator key (or an equivalent legendary magic key, the specifics aren't important) which is work 15k gold when exalted. and citrine would absoLUTELY kill for 15k gold are you kidding me
idk if her plan was to steal it with murder being the backup or if she jumped straight to murder. it ended the same way regardless. i know she didn't know the key was valuable until shortly before Murder Happened, the relationship wasn't a ruse or anything, she just heard about this expensive item while out adventuring and went 'WAIT I KNOW WHERE TO FIND ONE OF THOSE'
aside from general greed, i think citrine is also bad with money. spent it irresponsibly, might've had some debts. likes expensive things and has poor impulse control. blush was comfortably well-off, enough to happily spend money on citrine left and right when she was in town. but that plus adventuring wasn't cutting it for citrine, not to keep up with her spending. and then yeah, general greed.
would blush have just given the key to citrine if she'd asked? hard to tell. it had a lot of sentimental value to them, and i'm thinking they either lost both parents or whichever one passed down the key to them, so extra unwilling to part with it. citrine had them wrapped around her finger but there were a FEW things blush would put their foot down about. this might've been one of them, unless citrine was like threatening breaking up levels of pushing. again, hard to tell. and citrine DIDN'T ask.
i'm not sure when blush figures out the motive but it sure is a slap in the face. their fiancée killed them over money. it's DEEPLY hurtful/insulting on top of like wow, fuck, she's really the kind of person to do that? over money?? wildly misunderstood what citrine was really like. if blush finds out when they're still in the murderous stage that absolutely only fuels them to keep going down that path. might actually be the final trigger to go to áedán for power. up until then they're trying to desperately come up with excuses. maybe she had to? maybe she was possessed?? but no. money. blush learns that and is like 'oh i need to murder her back right now immediately'. and they're valid tbh. bad choice with áedán, but i get it at the same time, y’know?
#blush tag#citrine tag#i want a tag for ariknauts-universe kids who aren't PCs.... don't wanna put them in the general tag#for some reason#arikOCs tag#sure

First off - I love your blog. The way you connect things for Elain/Elriel is *chef's kiss*. I've been rereading ACOTAR and came across something that might be useful for your theories (or maybe not at all but is, at the very least, interesting or maybe is completely dumb and irrelevant lol). This is also long... so sorry.
In ACOFAS chp. 24, Mor talks about "Rhys's request." She states "her blood called to her" and told her to "Go on the wind." Seems a little witchy to me. Especially because of how she describes witches at the Illyrian war camp.
Now what is VERY interesting happens a few lines down: "She had not mentioned it these past few days in Velaris." At first, it's easy to assume that she's talking about "Rhys's request", but as I'll explain I don't believe this is true. Next: "She knew Azriel would say no, would want her safe. As he had always done." This literally cannot be related to her traveling to the continent for Rhys. In chp. 14 of ACOFAS, we have Rhys's POV and he's talking to Mor. Talking to himself, he says "I debated asking her if she wished to know where AZRIEL AND I THOUGHT she might fo first." Clearly, Azriel is aware of Rhys's plan. This would not be news to Azriel and would not "cast a shadow."
Back to ACOFAS 24, "Cassian would have said yes, Amren with him, and Feyre would have worried but agreed. Az would have been pissed and withdrawn even further into himself. She hadn't wanted to take his joy away from him. Anymore than she already did. "
I think whatever decision she is trying to make has to do with Elain. I don't have a lot to back this up off the top of my head tbh, but Mor's mention of "joy" sticks out to me. We know earlier in ACOFAS, Azriel laughed a very "joyous" laugh. We also know that since that night, he has kept Elain's present to him on his nightstand at the HoW to look at every night. I don't think this is a coincidence. ACOWAR thru ACOSF provides plenty of instances that showcases Azriel's protection of Elain, as you know. Also, the fact that she thinks "Cassian would have said yes" sticks out to me. ACOSF shows that Cassian doesn't want Nesta involved with the trove and goes all alphahole when Azriel says Elain shouldn't mess with it because it would mean Nesta would have to. Cassian agreeing to Elain going with Mor somewhere would mean Nesta wouldn't have to.
What's weird is no mention of Rhys here... which suggests to me that he already knows what's going on with Mor. My thinking is whatever decision she is trying to make has to do with the hissing she shut out a few lines up in the same ACOFAS chapter, as this discussion occurs right after that. It makes me wonder if Elain is somehow involved with that hissing, too...
Finally, "But she'd have to tell them, regardless of what she decided, at some point." This means there are 2 things at work here: 1) the "news" and 2) her decision (which cannot be about going to the continent).
I realize this might make no sense but have you noticed this? Am I overanalyzing? Probably lol. But what could this be about??
Thank you so much for sending this intriguing ask! I’ve been taking a break from tumblr due to a bunch of life stuff, so I greatly appreciate your patience. Your ask inspired me to go back and review these sections before responding and after rereading, I do think the sections you highlighted are focused on Mor and her mission on the continent. BUT, they helped me notice an interesting parallel between Mor and Elain that aligned with something I had in the (at this point, endless) drafts, so please read on.
Warning: spoilers for all three series—TOG, CC, and ACOTAR—are below.
I’ll start with Hewn City, which (in part) seems to motivate Mor to accept Rhys’s request. HC has a different kind of darkness than Velaris. It is described as eternal, rotting, and smothering, and it withers all life. (No wonder those families are eager to get out of there. 😅)
There was no light in this place. There never had been. Even the evergreen garlands, holly wreaths, and crackling birchwood fires in honor of the Solstice couldn’t pierce the eternal darkness that dwelled in the Hewn City.
It was not the sort of darkness that Mor had come to love in Velaris, the sort of darkness that was as much a part of Rhys as his blood.
It was the darkness of rotting things, of decay. The smothering darkness that withered all life. (acofas)
I was struck by this language because it reminded me of Elain’s black dress in HC—the unflattering dress that seems to suck the life from her. But in Velaris? Elain is a curvy, glowing goddess wrapped in amethyst velvet. Is it possible that Elain, like Mor, is bound for adventures beyond HC? Or is Sarah setting us up for one of her infamous contradictions?
With scaled beasts of stone and sneering courtiers, HC is also associated with hissing (we’ll circle back to this when we get to the parts you referred to).
And the golden-haired male standing before her in the throne room, amongst the towering pillars carved with those scaled, slithering beasts—he had been created from it. Thrived in it.
The sneering tone. She could still hear the hissed insults beneath it, whispered long ago in her family’s private suite, whispered at every meeting and gathering when her cousin was not present. Half-breed monstrosity. A disgrace to the bloodline. (acofas)
Even though she was born and raised in this smothering darkness, Mor is eager to escape it. And like everyone else in the IC, she dons a mask of cruelty when she is there. She is never able to be herself there.
The words came out of her without thought. And her voice, the voice she used here … Not her own. Never her own, never down here with them in the darkness. Mor kept her voice just as cold and unforgiving as she corrected, “To what do we owe this pleasure, High Lord.”
This mask is something she is accustomed to now, but we have a hint that it did not come as easily to her as it did for Feyre. The fated High Lady of the Night Court became the mistress of HC with far more ease:
Feyre had fallen into the role of mistress of this horrible city with far more ease than she had. Clad in a sparkling onyx gown, the crescent-moon diadem atop her head, her friend looked every part the imperious ruler. As much a part of this place as the twining, serpentine beasts carved and etched everywhere. What Keir, perhaps, had one day pictured for Mor herself.
It’s also not surprising that Lady Death dominated her first event in the rotting darkness of HC. But the third sister? Like Mor, Cassian indicates that the cruelty of HC bothers Elain. And yet she still insists on going and supporting her family. She dons the equivalent of a black grandma dress and Cassian thinks about how it sucks the light and life out of her…much like the darkness of Hewn City, withering all life.
Mor used to enjoy her role (punishing Rhys’s detractors, especially her family) in HC, but we start to see that change in acowar when her father and Eris grow closer. Then in acofas, their solstice meeting triggers one of her most traumatic memories, possibly because Eris wears the same mask of indifference now as he did then:
Eris wasn’t fazed. Nothing had ever disturbed him, ruffled him. Mor had hated it from the moment she’d met him—that distance, that coldness. That lack of interest or feeling for the world. “Then I would suggest to you, High Lord, that you speak to your dear friend Tamlin about it.”
And like the hissing insults of HC, he is also compared to a serpent.
Eris’s mouth curved in an adder’s smile. “Because Tamlin’s territory is the only one that borders the human lands. I’d think that anyone looking to expand would have to go through the Spring Court first. Or at least obtain his permission.”
While Sarah has hinted that Eris is more complex than what we have been led to believe (we know there is a reason for his behavior), he and his court seem to be as cold and cruel as HC, rotting beneath a beautiful veneer:
Warm, buttery sunlight through the leaves, setting them glowing like rubies and citrines. The damp, earthen scent of rotting things beneath the leaves and roots she lay upon. Had been thrown and left upon.
A pale, beautiful face appeared above her, blocking out the jewel-like leaves above. Unmoved. Impassive. “I take it you do not wish to live here, Morrigan.”
She would rather die here, bleed out here. She would rather die and return—return as something wicked and cruel, and shred them all apart.
He must have read it in her eyes. A small smile curved his lips. “I thought so.”
She wished she could grow claws—grow claws as Rhys could—and rip out that pale throat. But that was not her gift. Her gift…her gift had left her here. Broken and bleeding. (acofas)
Eris’ behavior makes Mor wish to become a monster, like the clawed monsters lurking just beneath the skin of the High Lords. It is also reminiscent of witches, who (as we learned from Cassian) become something other—something cold and wretched. In Erilea, ironteeth witches grow iron teeth and claws, and are known for ripping out throats. Mor specifically wished for claws that can rip out throats…but that was not her gift. Six chapters later, Elain asks about changing form, and in the next book, her sisters note how she seemed to grow claws…
“Look who decided to grow claws after all,” she crooned. “Maybe you’ll become interesting at last, Elain.” (acosf)
And showed some teeth…
“Elain showed some teeth,” I observed. “I wasn’t expecting that.” (feysand bonus)
This reference to claws and teeth reminds me of a few things: court inheritance, as that is what Mor specifically compares it to in this scene; shapeshifting (1, 2); and witches (especially ironteeth witches in Erilea). It doesn’t seem to be a coincidence that we first learned about witches in the Illyrian camp, where Mor snorted and stepped aside to reveal Elain after Nesta was accused of being a witch (and of course I’m still hoping something will come of that accusation). Illyrians possess an explosive power (raw killing power that, if not controlled through siphons, can kill the wielder) like ironteeth witches, who have a combination of demon (Valg) and fae heritage. There are theories that Illyrians might have demon and fae heritage as well.
In addition to their solstice experiences in HC, and growing (metaphorical and/or actual) claws, Mor and Elain share other similarities:
golden features and warm eyes
arranged romance with an AC male (via family and/or mating bond)
embodiment of light and color
powers that uncover/verify hidden information (both respond to specific questions and weigh the words of others)
I wouldn’t be surprised if they shared another connection in the future: working as spy and courtier and ambassador to secure peace. The sections you mentioned in your ask seem to refer solely to Rhys’ request for Mor, but the more we learn about the position, the more it seems fitting for Elain as well.
“Az can infiltrate most courts, most lands. But I might need you to win those lands over.” Because the pieces that were now strewn on the table… “Treaty negotiations are dragging on too long.”
“They’re not happening at all.”
.
“You wouldn’t need to be gone for months. Just visits here and there. Casual.”
“Casual, but make the kingdoms and territories realize that if they push too far or enter into human lands, we’ll obliterate them?”
I huffed a laugh. “Something like that. Az has lists of the kingdoms most likely to cross the line.”
.
She glanced sidelong at me. “When would I need to leave?”
“Not for another few weeks, maybe a month.”
She nodded, and fell quiet. I debated asking her if she wished to know where Azriel and I thought she might go first, but her silence said enough. She’d go anywhere.
As the spymaster, Azriel gathers intel from multiple sources and uses that information to protect and serve his court. He already has a list of kingdoms on their “watch list,” and this is what Rhys seems to refer to in this scene. While he might be in possession of this list and the general strategy, Rhys often operates alone and keeps secrets from those he claims as family. It sounds like Azriel does not know that Rhys has asked Mor to carry out this mission, which is similar to him asking Cassian to step in and play spy in the Band of Exiles because Azriel is juggling a lot at the moment…but he still has time to train Valkyries? More likely, it’s hard for him to work closely with Lucien at this point given how he feels about Elain, and Rhys knows that because of his conversation about tracking Lucien’s movements in chapter 7.
Rhys offers this position to Mor because they are trying to establish lasting peace.
“You always have a choice. If you don’t want to go, then it’s fine.”
“And who would do it instead? Amren?” A knowing look. I laughed again.
“Certainly not Amren. Not if we want peace.” I added, “Just—do me a favor and take some time to think about it before you say yes. Consider it an offer, not an order.”
This position requires someone who can win others over, someone who is a peacemaker. Later, Mor describes what this position would entail:
How far away the continent seemed, Rhys’s request with it. To go, to play spy and courtier and ambassador, to see those kingdoms long closed, where friends had once dwelled … Yes, her blood called to her. Go as far and wide as you can. Go on the wind.
Mor would be playing spy and courtier and ambassador (and yes, @whysterian, I agree that go on the wind sounds very witchy 😍…it also sounds a lot like an owl). She seems eager to serve her court in this way, but as Mor thinks about the offer, the hissing voices of her past—her family, Eris—start to invade her thoughts and she shuts them out.
But to leave, to let Keir believe he had made her go with his bargain with Eris … Coward. Pathetic coward. She shut out the hissing in her head, running a hand down Ellia’s snowy mane.
We now know that Mor accepted this mission and it is not going well…
“I’ve spent weeks in that blasted court,” Mor said, poking at the flaky pastry beside her teacup, “freezing my ass off, trying to kiss their cold asses, and their king and queen refused the treaty. I came home on the earlier side today because I knew any more last-minute pushing from me would be unwelcome. My time there was supposed to be a friendly visit, after all.”
because of the human queens:
“Why won’t they sign it?”
“Because those stupid human queens are stirring—their army still isn’t disbanded. The Queen of Vallahan even asked me what the point of a peace treaty would be when another war, this time against the humans, might redraw the territory lines far below the wall. I don’t think Vallahan is interested in peace. Or allying with us.”
And who was tasked with monitoring their activities? Azriel.
Az ran a thumb down Truth-Teller’s black hilt, the silver runes on the dark scabbard shimmering in the light. “What about the human queens?”
“We continue to watch. You continue to watch.”
“Vassa knows that the Queens of the Realm will be a threat until they are dealt with,” I said at last. Another tidbit that Lucien had told us. Well, Az and me at least. “But unless the queens step out of line, it’s not for us to face. If we sweep in, even to stop them from triggering another war, we’ll be seen as conquerors, not heroes. We need the humans in other territories to trust us, if we can ever hope to achieve lasting peace.” (acofas)
But they are stirring again and he can’t tackle this issue on his own (or through the source he might usually interact with). Enter, Cassian. Rhys asks him—the last person you’d expect, who also happens to be dismissed as a loyal dog much like Elain—to play spy out in the open. They need information from a trusted source and that is no longer Lucien, their emissary who is becoming increasingly loyal to the Band of Exiles.
“Az and I have good reason to believe that the human queens are scheming again. I need you to look into it. Deal with it.” (acosf)
.
Rhys went on, “Azriel is juggling more than he’ll admit right now. I’m not dumping another responsibility on him. This task of yours will help him.” Rhys flashed a challenging smile. “And let us all see what you’re really made of.”
“You want me to play spy?”
“There are other ways to glean information, Cass, besides peeking through keyholes. Az isn’t a courtier. He works from the shadows. But I need someone—I need you—standing in the open.
He needs someone who can play spy in the light. Through his spying out in the open, Cassian learns that the three remaining queens have scattered to the winds:
Eris said, “I have it on good authority that the other three queens have scattered to the winds.” Cassian tucked away the information and the questions it raised. How did Eris know that? “Briallyn has been residing alone in their palace for weeks now. Long before my soldiers vanished.” (acosf)
And Koschei, the mastermind whispering on the wind, has been influencing them for quite some time.
“Why was he imprisoned?” Cassian asked. “The story is too long to tell,” she hedged. “But know that Briallyn and the others sold me to him not through their devices, but his. By words he planted in their courts, whispered on the winds.” (acosf)
Most importantly, they are still a concern at the end of Nesta’s story:
But Nesta smoothed his bunched brow, as if she could see those worries there. “Later,” she promised. “We’ll deal with all that later.” Including the remaining queens, Koschei, and a still-looming war. (acosf)
But will Mor and Cassian continue to play spy, ambassador, courtier, etc? Negotiations on the continent are proceeding poorly because of the human queens who have scattered on the winds. What does that mean for the stability of their territories? Someone will need to locate them swiftly and, at some point, convince other leaders not to claim vulnerable territories as their own. Sadly, Cassian’s efforts have yielded little information on the whereabouts of the queens. And Mor can’t seem to leave Vallahan fast enough after her latest attempt to convince their leaders to sign a treaty. Enter, Elain.
Why Elain? We know she wins over others easily (her staff adored her, and everyone and their mom wants to protect her), gets answers to her questions with ease, keeps secrets as well as the spymaster, and routinely surprises others with her stealthy appearance. She can maneuver silently in the light and among the shadows. And unlike her sister, Elain tends to be a calming presence, more of a peacemaker.
“You still can barely talk to Nesta,” I said. “Yet Elain you can talk to nicely.”
“Elain is Elain.”
“If you blame one, you have to blame the other.”
“No, I don’t. Elain is Elain,” he repeated. “Nesta is … she’s Illyrian. I mean that as a compliment, but she’s an Illyrian at heart. So there is no excuse for her behavior.” (acofas)
.
Illyrians were strong, proud, fearless. But peacemakers, they were not. (acofas)
And Rhys hints that, as a gardener, she is willing to get her hands dirty for a pretty result—like peace.
Cassian will likely be occupied with the Illyrians and the Valkyries. Mor, who can hold her own against any illyrian…
There was a reason she’d held her own in battle, and could hold her own against any Illyrian. My brothers and I had overseen much of the training ourselves, but she’d spent years traveling to other lands, other territories, to learn what they knew. (acofas)
…might return to Prythian and join Valkyrie training in Azriel’s place as @offtorivendell predicted in this post.
Mor grinned. “You mind if I start joining you once this business with Vallahan is over? I never got to train with the Valkyries before the first War, and after it, they were all gone.”
“I think the priestesses would like to see you,” Nesta said, and glanced to Cassian to make sure he didn’t mind. He waved a hand. (acosf)
Elain could use her powers to track down the queens (as she did with the Suriel, who traveled like the wind) in real time and play peacemaker on the continent. Spy and courtier and ambassador. This would also bring her closer to her two love interests—one a spy and the other an emissary—and heighten the tension between them. These tasks are even more important with the looming threat of the Asteri (who may be connected to Koschei, creator of chaos and influencer of human queens). Divided as their world is now, they are an even more vulnerable target.
So while I don’t think those sections are about Elain (yet), @whysterian, I do think they might foreshadow her future as a peacemaker who is more than ready to get her hands dirty.

The thing about aerith you just shared is fascinating. If we're going with the theme of " there's nothing I don't cherish" and the complete 180° of Zack's character with aerith in terms of stereotypes of heroism.
With Zack, Cloud cries for a good person. Someone he idolized.
With Aerith, cloud cries for uh not so good person (I'm being generous here). Someone he treated severely most of the time.
But both he was grateful for. Both he cried for. Just like with anything. Like, look at how he described jessie in Rebirth. We know she didn't treat him well but in cloud's perspective he was grateful for her reaching out to him. Giving him materia, inviting him with the gang for pizza. I think once wedge told him that she's just being a prick, he ended up being more relaxed about it. But you know what's up? He doesn't think of her romantically AT ALL. Not even a prospect even for a milisecond. She's actually very similar to the way aerith was written here btw.
But yes, long story short. He cherishes everything. Good and bad. But there's only one person he'll ever come to be attracted to and in love with. Tifa obviously duh.
But yeah, like you said, she's an awful person who so happens to be one of the "good guys" in the story. If a clumsy guy can be a hero (Cloud), if the perfect hero can be a hero (Zack), if the perfect heroine can be a hero (Tifa), then, the most questionable person can also be a hero (aerith).
Lol the Sibling energy going strong here, if you noticed what I mean 😂.
But overall, It fits. It's a game with the theme of LIFE in it. We meet so many people.
So in short Nojima is challenging us through aerith to see that. Don't lavish her with flowery words nor look at her through rose tinted glasses (puns intended). LOOK AT HER. She's a POS but she got friends who care for her. She may take them for granted A LOT but she will be there to help save the planet they live in. That's one way to look at it.
But Cloti is TOO KIND still lol. So they need better boundaries and standards for friendship.
Also low key aerith reminds me of gollum here. Gollum is ACTUALLY a hero himself. And if Frodo (cloti) didn't let him into their circle, but they did due to their kindness. They will never be able to kill sauron. So Gollum, by sheer greed and all. Bit Frodo's finger, catches the ring and falls with it. So if they never let aerith into the group, welcomed her with open arms, she wouldn't have been able to do her task and see to it as much as she can. Than alone.
That was long but yeah. Sorry to aerith fans since I compared her to gollum. But it has nothing to do with his looks, just the function he has in the story. And HE IS A VERY IMPORTANT CHARACTER.
That's what I think. What's interesting tho is at least Cloud has the interest and self awareness of knowing he doesn't or does but wanting to prove he deserves Tifa. The modernized Yamato Nadeshiko. Meanwhile aerith is the complete opposite. She just believes she's entitled to it regardless. Zack has uh, an interesting type I'd say. It cringes me he's into "city mouse" but notice the animal she's being compared to lmao. Tbh they're kind of the same in one aspect not only their upbeat personality. Zack would never bat an eye on her if she didn't had the same complexity she had with being weird and different. Same with aerith, she'd never care at all. This will never apply to cloud even if he ends up being a soldier, because he wants to be special afterall, he will never understand aerith and zack's insecurities. But Zack doesn't think being a soldier is special, he feels like a monster but still he wants to be a hero.
I mean nobody has any issues with Cait Sith, a literal Shinra spy, being a good guy. Nobody has issues with Vincent, a former turk who probably did a lot of questionable shit, being a good guy.
Cid also worked for Shinra and knew Ifalna and never tried to help her despite seeing her around Hojo's lab, but he's a good guy.
Everybody is a flawed hero, but Aerith's flaws are worse because hers cause harm to her own friends. Everybody else's personality flaws are external in nature and project outward towards other characters who aren't part of their group, but Aerith and Cait Sith's flaws project internally to the group. Cait gets ousted after betraying them and Aerith dies.
It's almost like those harmful to the greater good of the planet are removed from the party. Cait returns with a better attitude in a new robot body, but the one that betrayed them also dies.
